Surosa Cycles Demo Day, Sunday 23rd November 2008

In support of a proposed initiative to create a dedicated mountain bike trail centre in Shaw, Oldham, Surosa Cycles in association with Try-Cycles and North West Riders Mountain Biker Club and Oldham Countryside service, will be holding an activity and demo day at Crompton moor, Shaw on Sunday 23rd November 2008 from 11.00 a.m. 'til 3.00 p.m.

An exciting day packed full of activities is planned to demonstrate the value of the site as an off road cycling venue and to encourage users from a broad spectrum of backgrounds to experience the value of the proposed development.

Try-Cycles will be holding a series of skills sessions aimed at families and those new to mountain biking to teach skills and techniques for off road riding so as to encourage and motivate riders to get the best from themselves and their bikes. The event aims to showcase the site and demonstrate the value of a unified plan to unlock the potential of Oldham as an exciting North West mountain bike venue.

For the more experienced riders Surosa Cycles will be holding a mountain bike demonstration day. The latest bikes from Bionicon (voted Europe's most innovative bike 2007) and Cube will be available for riders to try out the exciting downhill course as well as extensive single track routes available at the Crompton Moor site.

To add to the excitement there will also be a trials / stunt jumping demo from Try Cycles / North West Riders Demo team.

In support of the initiative representatives from Oldham Council will be on hand to distribute the new Mountain Bike trails consultation map produced by Unity Partnership and Try-Cycles. The aim of the map is to promote legally accessible trails in the area and to gain feedback from local riders, walkers and equestrians on proposed routes and to look at ways to improve potential problem sections.

The event centre is located at Shaw Quarry, Crompton Moor Car Park, off Buckstones road (B6197), Shaw (GR SD951101), Oldham where refreshments will be available. Ample parking on site.
